Frequently Asked Questions

What Is Clayton?

Unlike traditional coating materials, Clayton stands out with its flexibility and lightness. It is a next-generation surface coating technology, developed with inspiration from nature and produced by blending clay and natural stone powders with special polymers. Often associated with "flexible stone" or "soft porcelain" technology, this material consists of 100% natural minerals and contains no harmful components such as PVC.

The most fundamental feature that makes Clayton unique is that, despite having a solid appearance (stone, brick, wood or leather texture), it has a bendable and rollable structure. This way, it provides a seamless aesthetic even on challenging surfaces such as oval columns or curved walls. Thanks to its thin structure (generally between 2-5 mm), it places no extra static load on the building, which makes it a preferred material in terms of earthquake safety.

Where Can You Use Clayton's Products?

Clayton, water, moisture and UV rays, thanks to the superior resistance it shows against both indoors and outdoors, — it is a versatile material that can even be used safely on furniture surfaces. While the uses of this material are limited only by your imagination, the most frequently preferred areas are:

Exterior Facade Cladding: Because it is lightweight, it is used safely on the facades of high-rise buildings with the bonding method, without the need for an anchoring system.

Interior Wall Decoration: It is ideal for achieving a natural stone or brick look on TV back-wall units, corridors or living room walls.

Curved and Oval Surfaces: Thanks to its flexible structure, columns, arches and architectural elements with rounded lines can be easily clad.

Wet Areas: Thanks to its water-resistant structure, it can be used in bathrooms and kitchen backsplashes (with a suitable protective varnish or filler).

Ceiling Cladding: Thanks to its lightness, it allows decorative textures to be created on ceilings without creating a risk of falling.

Renovation Projects: It can be applied directly onto old tiles or painted surfaces, without any demolition work.

Is Clayton Plastic or PVC?

Absolutely not. Clayton® contains no PVC. It is a surface coating material made from 100% natural minerals — flexible, lightweight, environmentally friendly and resistant to water/moisture. In appearance and texture it is indistinguishable from real stone, yet it is far higher quality, healthier and longer-lasting than its plastic counterparts.

What Are the Product Sizes and Thicknesses?

The thickness of Clayton® panels varies between 2.5 mm and 9 mm.

Standard sizes:

• 600 mm × 1200 mm

• 1200 mm × 2400 mm

• 1200 mm × 2800 mm

• 1200 mm × 3000 mm

Custom Production: For large-scale projects (20,000 m² and above), we can provide custom-size production solutions tailored to your project.

What Is the Fire Resistance of Clayton Surface Coating Material?

Clayton® has A2-class non-combustibility. Thanks to this property, it can be confidently chosen for high-rise buildings, schools, hospitals and all public spaces that require fire safety.

Is It Resistant to Water and Outdoor Weather Conditions?

Yes. Clayton® is fully resistant to UV rays, water and moisture. It retains its color on exterior facades. Since it does not absorb water, it can be used with peace of mind in wet areas such as bathrooms, ornamental pools and spa areas.

What Is the Application Method? Is Mechanical Anchoring Required?

Clayton® panels are applied with strong adhesives suited to the surface. They require no mechanical anchoring (dowels/profiles). This provides a quiet, dust-free, fast and low-cost installation.

The application is done not mechanically but entirely with the chemical bonding method, in the following order:

1. Surface preparation

2. Level marking

3. Preparing and applying the mortar (adhesive)

4. Joint filling

5. Cleaning

Our products can be applied to any kind of even surface; if you wish, we can send you our application and technical guide.

How Can I Cut the Products? Is a Special Machine Required?

No, you do not need angle grinders or heavy cutting machines. You can easily size the panels with a utility knife or simple cutting tools, without creating dust. This greatly reduces your waste rate.

Which Surfaces Can It Be Applied To?

Almost anywhere. It is applied safely to rough plaster, drywall, cement-bonded board, painted surfaces, over ceramics, wood or metal surfaces with a suitable primer and adhesive. Thanks to its flexibility, it also wraps curved surfaces and columns.

What Advantage Does the Material's Lightness Provide?

With its extremely lightweight structure, Clayton® places no extra load on the structures it is applied to. This provides a vital advantage especially in regions with high earthquake risk, since it does not increase the static load of the building, making it a conscious choice in terms of structural safety.

Is Clayton Real Stone?

Our products give the feel of natural stone, but they are not real stone.

Clayton panels are wall panels made from clay and minerals that mimic the texture of stone, leather and wood found in nature, but can be produced without harming these natural materials.
